KOTURA and Enablence Announce Joint Development Agreement
Monterey Park, Calif., September 19, 2006 - KOTURA, Inc. a leading supplier of silicon photonics components, and Enablence Technologies, a leading supplier of Fiber–to-the-Home components based on Planar Lightwave Circuits, today announced that they have entered into a strategic joint development agreement for the design and manufacture of silicon photonics devices for FTTH applications.
"Our companies naturally complement each other," remarked Jean-Louis Malinge, KOTURA’s CEO. "Enablence has significant expertise in designing photonics integrated circuits in glass, while KOTURA has significant expertise in designing and manufacturing optical components using standard CMOS processes."
"We believe that our Dispersion Bridge technology will bring a new capability to silicon photonics. We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with the team at KOTURA," added Arvind Chhatbar, CEO of Enablence.
About Enablence Technologies, Inc.
Enablence products are used in optical modems that are located inside the consumer’s homes (i.e. for the delivery of high speed data/voice/video). Enablence designs and manufactures optical components, in particular triplexers and diplexers, using its proprietary Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC) "Dispersion Bridge" platform, for the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) market. These devices are filters that are embedded on a chip that are capable of processing optical signals at a low cost. Enablence is a fabless optical components company.
