KOTURA JOINS OIDA’S NEW SILICON PHOTONICS ALLIANCE

Monterey Park, Calif., September 11, 2007 -- Kotura, Inc. a leading supplier of silicon photonics components, announced today that it is joining the Silicon Photonics Alliance, the first formal Community of Interest with the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association (OIDA).

Dedicated to raising the profile of silicon photonics, the members of the Silicon Photonics Alliance will participate in forums and work to identify key application areas. The group will also collaborate to promote silicon photonics within the optical standards bodies to assure interoperability among vendors. Other companies that have already joined the Alliance include Corning, Luxtera, Molex, and US Conec.

“We are delighted to be a founding member of OIDA’s Silicon Photonics Alliance,” said Arlon Martin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Kotura. “This new Community of Interest provides the opportunity to discuss, define, and develop commercial products based upon an exciting new technology.”

“OIDA is delighted to be working with Kotura and the other members to introduce this Community of Interest,” said David Huff, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing of OIDA. “We anticipate that this new Alliance will help promote and increase the market adoption of silicon photonics technology.”

Kotura, a world wide leader in silicon photonics, has been in mass production of silicon photonics components for more than three years. The company previously announced a two-year supply agreement with Alcatel-Lucent for its Ultra Fast Variable Optical Attenuator (VOA) Arrays. Kotura is also an active participant in the IEEE 802.3 Higher Speed Study Group and in the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA).

About OIDA
The Optoelectronics Industry Development Association (OIDA) is a Washington DC-based, not-for-profit association that serves as the nexus for vision, transformation, and growth of the optoelectronics industry. OIDA advances the competitiveness of its members by focusing on the business of technology, not just technology itself. OIDA members include the leading providers of optoelectronic components and systems enabled by optoelectronics, as well as universities and research institutions. OIDA provides roadmaps, reports, and market data for the optoelectronics industry, serves as the voice of industry to government and academia, acts as liaison with other optoelectronic industry associations worldwide, and provides a network for the exchange of ideas and information within the optoelectronics community.
