KOTURA Appoints Mehdi Asghari as Chief Technology Officer
Monterey Park, Calif., March 28, 2006 — KOTURA, Inc. a leading supplier of silicon photonics products, today announced the appointment of Mehdi Asghari, Ph.D. as Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Asghari joined KOTURA to lead the company's technology and product development activities.
Dr. Asghari brings to KOTURA over 15 years of progressive engineering and management experience within the silicon photonics and optoelectronics industries. Most recently, Dr. Asghari served as Vice President of Research and Development of Bookham, Inc., where he was responsible for the research, development, and manufacturing transfer activities behind all of Bookham's silicon-based technologies and products.
"Mehdi's extensive background and broad experience in silicon photonics and optoelectronics, and his proven track record in developing and commercializing innovative technologies and products, make him a key addition to our company," said Jean-Louis Malinge, KOTURA's Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Asghari holds a Ph.D. degree in Optoelectronics from the University of Bath, a M.Sc. degree in Optoelectronics and Laser Devices from the Heriot-Watt and St. Andrews Universities, and a B.A. degree in Engineering from Cambridge University. He has authored or co-authored over 50 publications and holds more than 12 patents within the fields of silicon photonics and optoelectronics.
